[Established Feb. 21, 2003] Welcome to the Opp Cablevision IRC Chat server! This server is meant to be a general meeting area for chatters from around Opp, AL (USA) & around the world. While you chat, we ask you follow some simple rules: ** No warez, pornography, MP3, non Linux/Unix/Open-source related file sharing. (All files transferred over this system must legally be allowed to be reproduced. IRC may have a reputation for being a group of psycho software pirates, but we'd like to think we are an exception.) ** We have IRC Ops (ircops) lurking in the shadows of our server. They are watching you, so don't do anything that may get you kicked or banned from the server. (The ircops may monitor any and all communications with the server.) ** Excessive use of profanility or vulgarity may get you kicked from a channel or the server at the discretion of the channel operator. Please be kind! ** No channel names or topics containing any profanity or vulgarity! ** Bots are allowed, HOWEVER, if the bot is caught doing anything malicious (DoS attacks, etc.), the bot and the bot owner will be permanently banned! ** #OppChat is our main channel. Please observe the topic and mind your channel operators. (We don't want to kick you, but if you act up, we very well may!) ** If a channel is moderated or the topic is flowing in a certain direction, try not to interrupt it with idle chat or conversations between friends. (This is what "/msg" and creating your own private room is for.) ** Feel free to start your own channel if you do not see one dedicated to a topic you are interested in. (For example, a channel for your favorite distro of Linux or maybe just a channel for your favorite musician or TV show.) ** Have fun! This server is meant as a place for people to come chat and share ideas with others.
